President Mahama made the demand when he swore in Health Minister Alex Segbefia, Ashanti Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi-Mensah and three other deputy ministers.
He reminded the appointees and other ministers about the need to be steadfast in the execution of their mandate.
“The positions that we are given are not our property and we serve at the pleasure of the people of Ghana.
“Just as we have been appointed today, tomorrow you could be removed or shifted elsewhere and you should always remember when that happens that the office belongs to the people of Ghana and not to us,” he added.
He said the appointments is an opportunity for the newly elected ministers and their deputies to demonstrate what they can do to contribute to the transformation agenda of the country and contribute to the process of uplifting the quality of life of citizens as well as growing the economy.
President Mahama indicated that the review of the management of public institutions was to bring about “greater efficiency” in these institutions because they have direct contact with citizens.
He congratulated the appointees and reminded them that “humility and modesty are an important hallmark of social democratic governments” and asked them to begin work immediately.
