His comment follow reports that some renowned pastors had upon the invitation of former President John Agyekum Kufuor met with feuding factions within the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to help solve the problems in the party.
Asiedu Nketia was speaking with executives of the NDC in the Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
“They are supposed to be referenced when need be to deal with national issues, irrespective of the government in place. The need to distant themselves from political party issues because if governments have problems we need to have neutral personalities like chiefs and pastors to mediate.”
He added that “if we call on them to mediate, we need to be assured that they are indeed referees and not players.”
Otabil, Martey attend NPP ‘crisis’ meeting
Pastor Mensah Otabil, and other renowned religious leaders reportedly attended a meeting convened by Ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, aimed at resolving the internal ‘crisis’ within the NPP.
According to a report by the Daily Guide, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev Prof Emmanuel Martey, and the Metropolitan Arch¬bishop of Accra, Bishop Charles Palmer Buckle also attended the meeting at the Airport West resident of the former President in Accra.
